PASSIVE VOICE



The Basic Form of Passive Voice is :
BE + Verb 3
The Form of “BE” could be : am, is, are, was, were, be, being, or been.

A.  Simple Form of Passive Voice
 Be + Verb 3

Example:
1.     Present
A : He cleans the room
B : The room is cleaned
2.    Past
A : He cleaned the room
B : The room was cleaned
3.    Future
A : He will clean the room
B : The room will be cleaned

B.  Progresif Form of Passive Voice
  Be + Being + Verb 3

Example:
1.     Present
A : He is cleaning the room
P : The room is being cleaned
2.    Past
A : He was cleaning the room
P : The room wa being cleaned
3.    Future
A : He will be cleaning the room
P : The room will be being cleaned

C.  Perfect Form of Passive Voice
  Has/ Have/ Had + Been + Verb 3

Example :
1.     Present
A : He has cleaned the room
P : The room has been cleaned
2.    Past
A : He had cleaned the room
P : The room hab been cleaned
3.    Future
A : He will have cleaned the room
P : The room will hve been cleaned

D.  Passive Voice Which is used Impersonal “It”

It refers to people, everyone, everybody, etc

Example :
1.     A : People say that we have made much progress
P : It is said that we have made much progress
2.    A : Everyone believed that there was no life on moon
P : It was believed that there was no life on moon.

E.  Gerund Form which means Passive

Gerund after these verbs : need, want, require means Passive

Example :
1.     The garden needs watering
The garden needs to be watered
2.    The pens requaire refilling
The pens requaire to be refilled
